6 Tips for Home Security

These are our TOP TIPS for securing your home whilst away on holiday:

• Arrange for a reliable family member or trusted neighbour to regularly pop round to your house to make sure all is in order, and report any suspicious behavior. Leave a spare key with them just in case. Don’t leave the key outside!

• Think twice about posting any details on social media – this will highlight the fact that no one will be at home.

• Don’t close your curtains or blinds. Noticeable changes could hint that you’re not around. Remember to remove valuables out of plain sight if they are visible from the window. Remember to lock your valuable possessions away in a safe place, as well as any personal documents.

• Lock the garage door.

• Unplug your television, computer, and other appliances to protect them against power surges. Also switch off your geyser to save electricity.

• Be proactive – install an alarm system if you don’t have one. A home security monitoring system will provide an enhanced level of security and peace of mind while you’re away.
